Using technology in classrooms has become a trend that has swept our country over the last few years. With technological advances happening every year it seems like, school systems must embrace these changes and incorporate these changes into their curriculum. Technology helps teachers and students become more accessible with one another, and allows students to learn things they may have not had the opportunities to learn in the past. Technology also allows students and teachers to connect more about grades and conduct. All of these influence K-12 students and teachers to use technology in their classrooms.
With the ISTE Standards for Educators, there are standards that educators must follow in order to be successful teachers. The one that I found most interesting was the Learner standard. While teachers must teach and inform, they also need to continue to learn new things in order to effectively teach their students. This standard I feel like is the most important because we can all continue to further our knowledge about subjects and education in order to help and teach those around us.
I agree with the digital native label for people my age. We were born right at the beginning of this digital transition and we have definitely grown up with it and it has become apart of our lives. I feel as if the generation before thinks of technology as a tool meant for our utilization but my generation views it as a necessity. I think this trend will continue with future students as technology will just advance more and more over time.
